Holiday in Aspen and Winter Park

The best perk about working for Telluride Ski Resort is that not only do we get a free season ski pass for Telluride, but we also get free ski passes all over Colorado. My friend Alex and I took a road trip to Aspen and Winter Park this past weekend for a little snowboard vacation. We saved over $300 each with these ski passes. Vacation can’t get better than that! But while we were visiting these ski resorts I was comparing them to Telluride. The one major thing that I noticed about the other ski resorts is that they have massive lift lines. While in Winter Park I waited about 15-20 minutes at some of the ski lifts. During this time I could have done at least an extra run or two at Telluride.
The views are gorgeous at both of these resorts but again, I think Telluride takes the cake as far as views. Around Telluride, you see the true Rocky Mountains. Aspen and Winter Park seemed a little flat to me. But here is a view from Aspen…

And a view from the Panoramic Lift at Winter Park.

Just Another Cold Sunny Gorgeous Day

I woke up Monday morning to my weather report stating that it was going to be about 5 degrees outside. Then I looked outside and saw the sunshine and decided to go boarding anyways. It was one of the toughest days I've ever experienced boarding, mainly because of the wind chill, but after I got to the top of Gold Hill for the first time and saw the view... It was all worth it. I took of my gloves to take a few pictures and instantly my hands went numb! My pictures don't do much justice but I hope you enjoy the view as much as I did.

Tis The Season

After my last post, the Holiday season kicked in in Telluride. Oh my busy. I work at the Hop Garden in Mountain Village and it was madness for about two weeks. But I met some amazing vacationers from all over the world. I had tables from Europe, Mexico, Australia, and everywhere. It was really awesome to talk to people and ask them why they chose to come to Telluride for the holidays. Most of my answers consisted of ‘there isn’t another place like this’. The mountain in Telluride is unbelievably huge. Although so many people were in town, you could still find yourself alone on the mountain. I went to Lake Tahoe last year for New Years Eve and the mountains there were so busy it wasn’t that enjoyable. There really isn’t another place as beautiful as Telluride and as desolate. But now that the holidays are dying down I can finally blog again. More to come!
